Each day brings new and exciting things for a young baby. Depending on where your child is developmentally will effect what toys and games are appropriate to play. Remember that all babies develop at their own unique pace.

Child's brain starts learning since birth. As, we have already discussed in Intellectual Development section, how brain develops at a fast pace. Let's summarize the key points here for details refer to this link.

These days some children are sent to 'school' from the time they are 12-14 months old. This is a new trend and parents of the old school often wonder what these 'babies' could possibly learn when they have just begun to walk and talk. Many parents feel that they turned out quite all right without having attended any play school. Other skeptical parents believe that this is just another gimmicky idea that will only put further pressure on today's children. While it is true that children today face tremendous academic pressure, skeptics will be pleasantly surprised to learn that the concept of a play school has nothing to do with academics at all.

Scientist have confirmed that babies are born with billion of brain cells, much more than they have at age of 3 and twice as many as when they will be adult. Growing his basic skills at right time is quite crucial to maximize child's learning process.

Most parents give their children plenty of attention in terms of looking after their basic needs and showering them with toys to entertain them. In play schools, however, children are provided with the 'right' toys, i.e. those appropriate to their stage of development. Also, their play is guided so that it becomes a learning experience. The ideas is that children should transfer play behaviours such as feeding a doll, changing its clothes, etc. to themselves, and thus develop self-help skills. The thinking is that if a child can go through the motions of feeding a doll, it will soon learn to feed itself.

Hence, it's important to understand a few facts and then we'll study list of activities that should be performed, to stimulate baby's senses and help him learn and understand his environment.

In one study, researchers compared babies who had regular sessions of vestibular stimulation, being swung in different positions, with babies who did not receive this extra treatment and found that the babies with extra stimulation were more advanced in motor skills like sitting, crawling, standing and walking.

Also researchers have observed that repeating activities are more advantageous. More babies repeat an act, the more secure and responsive, he will be. Repetitive activities will improve infant's thinking and reasoning.
